Mixed Member Proportional

There are 120 seats in total in Parliament, There are also two sides of Parliament and the two sides are Sovereign and the House Of Representatives. Democracy is the system where people 18 and over are allowed to vote for prime ministers and MPs. Mixed-member proportional (MMP), Seen in New Zealand from 1996 onward, is a proportional system where each voter has two votes. One of these is for the candidate in their electorate and one is for the overall political party.

Below is the link to the seating plan of the Debating Chamber.

My Lockdown Experience

I thought Lockdown was very boring especially because I had spent too much time with my family and it was quite overbearing, What kept me sane was the work the teachers sent the students to maintain and improve our grades. I finally came to school today after begging my mum for 4 days, I missed playing volleyball with my friends and getting my grades up, and that was why I couldn't wait to go to school.

Facts About Tokelau

This slide is about Tokelau and how it is being effected, It has a lot of information about the island and it's atolls. Please give your opinions on Global warming and what we can do to fix it. Thanks!
Today I did a presentation in front of my class about this slide, I felt a little nervous but I knew it was not going to be hard talking in front of the whole class, There were tiny mistakes in my slide that people pointed out but that only meant I could improve, Now that I got feedback I feel more confident and prepared to present the next time.

black lives matter

On the second of June, there was a march in Auckland's Aotea sqaure to protest on black lives matter, this happened because a man called George Floyd had been killed by a cop in Minneapolis America.

Jacinda Ardern the prime minister of New Zealand said that morning that she'd like to think the aftermath of the Christchurch terrorist attack demonstrated that as a nation, if we see racism, hatred or intolerance, that we call it out.

Winston Peters the deputy prime minister thought the people at the march should have gotten prosecuted.

I thought people should do what they think is right but I also think that people should think before they do act and also realise that they are putting other people in danger. I side with the protesting because racism is not right but If I know there are rules then I would follow it.Live updates, June 1: Thousands of Black Lives Matter NZ ...

My Journey To Myanmar

Tapena Sou Oso Mo Lau Malanga
My family and I were getting ready to go to the airport, we were all putting our clothes in the large suitcases after that we rode all the way to Manukau and was searching for the nearest restaurant so that we could be energised while riding on the plane. We were preparing to get on the plane but then it got delayed so we had to wait for an extra hour. This made me more excited and nervous to see my family back in Myanmar. We haven’t seen our grandparents in 5 years so we brought a lot of gifts such as toys and souvenirs. Now that time had passed we hopped on the plane and found our seats, we were now in the air flying over New Zealand.

In The Future - Covid 19

There is a pandemic that is affecting the whole world and is causing so many infections and also a lot of deaths. In these moments I felt so upset that we couldn't do anything but just isolate ourselves and so that's why I wanted to get to normality much faster, I'm very excited to get to level 1 but most of all to see all the family members and friends that we couldn't visit or see. I believe we can manage to get through it even though man kind was the one who caused it at first.
(how ironic).

My personal opinions about Alert Level 2

First AidThe level 3 lock down has been a brief week of staying inside and only going out when you need food or health supplies, But now that we’re going into lock down level 2 we are getting the chance to do a bit more things like getting together with family and friends but also getting to go to public venues and shops. My personal opinion on getting back to the normal routine is going to be an exciting but weird feeling because we have been in lock down for so long and now we’re getting back to normal life.

My viewpoint of Counties Manukau worst offenders for alert level 3

My personal opinion on this story is that people should stop offending the law and stay at home until the prime minister has reduced some restrictions and that the law enforcement should not have to keep giving warnings and prosecuting people that breached the rules.

Here are Some words I've learnt today in Social Studies

Globalisation | Many Answers       Globalisation

  • Globalisation is when the world interconnects by trades and culture exchange, for e.g NZ trades with a lot things to other places such as America, China and also Australia. Globalisation is also the process of interaction and integration among people, companies, and governments worldwide.

Application Modernisation (Part 1) | KFA Connect                                                                                                       Modernisation

  • Modernisation is when a traditional community transitions into a modern and more advanced society, The process includes people from other countries come to a cultured society and educate them into the countries you know today.

Sustainability

  • Sustainability means to keep or maintain something for a long period of time, like looking after an item so that the next generation can use it, sustainable can mean something that can be continued or a practise that maintains a certain condition without being damaged.

About the Haka

The Haka is iconic throughout the world. If you’re interested in rugby, then you probably know that the All Blacks perform a haka at the start of each of the rugby games. But, did you know why they do it? There are multiple reasons; and it comes back to the fact that the haka is important to the indigenous people of New Zealand; the Māori. It is an important, iconic part of their history and traditions. Today we are going to continue our blog series on Māori culture by looking at the meaning and significance of the haka.

My own haka lines: The ocean and the sky is what backs us up, and if you try to fight then we will stand up. Until the death I will fight for Aotearoa we won’t back down we will never go lower.

My thoughts about the lock down holiday

Contrarian' academics oppose NZ lockdownFor our 2 week lock down holiday we got to spend more time together as a family because everyone got together and we watched movies, we even made food together which was also fun, everyone found it exciting.

The holiday was different and challenging in many ways like getting groceries was a difficult thing to do because my parents were very suspicious about everyone around us. Sleeping was very relaxing but we got more rest time then we had planned so we often overslept.

My Story Board About Polynesian Migration

They took a DNA swab at a cafe.
They the went to where the Takitimu landed. (Mahia)

They got to Rarotonga and found a monument for the Wakas that left to find other countries.

When they got to Samoa they got to see a graveyard at the back of a Neighbour's house.

The Lapita pottery was created by the Lapita people. It was a decoration with motifs on it.

They found out so many things and learned so much, they can now know why Polynesians travelled to NZ.

Made in Taiwan

In this documentary 'Made in Taiwan' Oscar Kightley, and Māori radio/TV personality Nathan Rarere use DNA technology to trace their families' ancestry. They discover that their forebears originated in Taiwan before migrating to the Pacific islands: Vanuatu (and the Cook Islands, for those going on to Aotearoa). On the DNA trail they meet locals and find striking cultural similarities — even in Taiwan, where the indigenous people look Polynesian, they even provided a haka-like welcome. The film won top honours at the International Oceania Documentary Film Festival in Tahiti.
